Shall we Tweet?
Saturday, 28 February 2009

I know it's a tad late to catch onto the Twitter bandwagon, but better late than never right? Stock updates, inspirations, aspirations, gripes on fellow lapins and everything under the sun. The good stuff is simply best shared. Follow the Naughty Rabbit.
After all the CNY tarts been eaten, work been done, finally there's time to finish the rest of the heel series. Also working on a men's range. Pictures up by Mid May, please be patient! Merci~

Bunny Bakes
Tuesday, 9 December 2008
Oops, you were expecting a shoe post, weren’t you? Off for a short detour while helping mum out with the CNY orders during the long weekend. Opening orders before Christmas since the Chinese New Year falls in late January 2009. Which is really really soon. I’ve posted pictures and a price list below; so email me for any enquiries or orders. Orders close on 15th Jan 2009, the final week’s for consolidation and collection. Latecomers will get penalty!
*Preorders for Love Letters, so first come first served. You may reserve them first and subsequently add on with other pastries later on. Remember to indicate ‘Add On’ in subject header if you follow up with new orders.
I enjoy taking work-in-progress pictures. Photos that document the journey from start to end because they tell how much effort is truly put into creating each pastry. Unfortunately, as an assistant baker and cookie tester, my hands are constantly oily, sticky or powdery. By the time my palms are clean enough to grasp the camera, the cookies would be either baked or eaten. The usual Pineapple Tarts, Love Letters and Kueh Bangkit stay at top spots. The Cashew Stamps and Almond Mangoes, besides having larger nuts now so rejoice, nut lovers!, have gone through a recipe revamp and are crunchier this time.
New items for 2009: The Biscotti are thinly sliced, nutty and crunchy enough to savor on its on or go for a dip in a coffee. Contains tons of almond slices. The Cookie Zoo is an improved recipe from last year’s Puppy cookies, and more animals this time. Of course, my favorite one would be the rabbits. As for the Sugee Fishies, I’m kind of banned from them since I ate all the fishies including the samples and Mum had to make them again. One of my new favorites because of the ghee, almond and vanilla formula and the starry eyed fishes are just so funny to look at.
You know who to look for if you wish to order. ;)

When Seasons Change
Wednesday, 3 December 2008
My, what a lot of catching up to do.
It’s been almost 3 months into my new job and I’m surprised that I'm actually having a lot more fun here, in an office environment, than the previous nightmare agency. Had to slow down the shoe works for a bit to adjust to the new place. It’s not easy swapping from a 10am to an 8.30am working time, nor giving up my usual sleeping time at 3am! The good thing is despite the occasional late hours, I can actually have a life most of the time. i.e. having dinner at home, shopping on weekdays and illustrating after work instead of weekends.
Watch this space, new shoes coming out next week! Yes, picking up orders again. XD

28 Days Later
Sunday, 12 October 2008

Dang~it's almost been a month since my last post! Sorry dears, can't post the next set till I've finished the entire collection. Progress has slowed down this month since I'm trying to adjust to the new workplace. Cool colleagues and saner working hours, so here's to hoping I'll finish the new series soon because I sense a new one brewing.
Test painted my new(and only) pair of flats with fuchsia and gold. A girl's gotta have something to match her new gold earrings, you know. Now, where are those black wedges I just bought...

All That Shines
Sunday, 14 September 2008
This year seems to fly by especially fast for me. Moving on to a hopefully better job, frantic freelances, my sister’s looming PSLE and the launch of RibbonRabbit. As we head on towards the final quarter of 2008, it’s time to prepare mentally and financially for the festivities ahead.
These silver heels are great for large gatherings and I bet crowd will be wondering which sexy wearer left her shoes outside their doorstep. There’s going to be heaps of people during the Christmas parties and Chinese New Year reunions might as well make an impression that’ll last them the entire year (or at least till you find something else to wow them with for 2010)!
Sakuran on Fuchsia
I think peep toes are mighty sexy. There’s just something playful about them that I find irresistible. Unfortunately, they are not destined to be mine because my toes do not look good when they peep.
Mixed medium on 3.5" silver heels, gloss varnished. Size 8.
Walk in them for: S$177
Sakuran on Black
This series is titled after the flashiest, craziest and prettiest movie I've ever had the fortune to watch.
Mixed medium on 3.5" silver heels, gloss varnished. Size 7.
Walk in them for: S$177
The Pink Hokusai
Shiina Ringo's music sounded disjointed to my ears at first, but after a while her raspy voice and rolling R's started to grow on me and in this case, the shoes. Gold studs, pink paint and silver heels in a shoe may sound zany, but are surprisingly compatible when mixed together.
Mixed medium on 3.5" silver heels, gloss varnished. Size 7.
Walk in them for: S$177
While I'm on the topic of Japanese culture, I should really get that H.Naoto top to go with my shoes. Or better yet, save up and go to the store in Shibuya!

Geometrika
I always knew that I would make a terrible teacher. Reasons being I have a short temper and an even shorter attention span. Here comes the third and final proof.
During the bumming job hunting period, I was asked to assist in marking my sister's PSLE maths assessment papers. While checking through the geometrical problems, inspiration hit and I headed straight for my shoes. Mum had a face that said I don't know if I should be irritated or amused after finding out why the maths paper was left unmarked after 3 hours. Oops.
Folds
Mixed medium on 1.5" chunky heels, gloss varnished. Size 37.
Walk in them for: S$85
Gems
Mixed medium on 1.5" chunky heels, gloss varnished. Size 40.
Walk in them for: S$85
Mondrian
The idea came from the angle calculations chapter, but the finished artwork looks more like it came from Piet Mondrian instead.
Mixed medium on 1.5" chunky heels, gloss varnished. Size 36.
Walk in them for: S$85
As for the PSLE Mathematics Paper 2, the sister's tuition teacher eventually marked it. Since teaching isn't my noble calling, maybe I should try applying for Discipline Mistress instead.

This bunny’s back from the moon
Friday, 12 September 2008
Forgive my absence this recent month; sourcing for a new job and painting new stock on top of that has barely left me anytime to shoot shoes and blog. Latest works will be in store by this Saturday afternoon and pictures will be up by latest Sat night, promise. New Chinese button accessories and at least 5 new shoe designs, so watch this space. ;)
Before that, let me send you my fondest greetings:
A Happy Mid-Autumn’s to you all!
How can I miss out on this festival, considering the legend's about a lady and, well, a rabbit on the moon. The mum baked a batch of mooncakes, half of which are already in my tummy. And Mid Autumn's not even here yet. That rabbit mould's got history! Mum has been using only that for her mooncakes for more than a decade.
After an overdose on the single yolk lian rong mooncakes, I thought I should wash it down with the sweet yam pastries from Takashimaya's Basement 2. On my way out, I passed by the Japanese stall and who on earth could resist those cute confectionery? They're handcrafted, too.
Do visit the Levers de Lune gallery, I love how these people seem to be having fun with the moon. Have a great time this Sunday, people!
Signing out on an overdose of sugar and salted egg yolks,
Bunny on the high

Abstractions 02
Sunday, 10 August 2008
Rather than coming up with some chic French name, I think I shall name this pair (and future ones of such ilk) as I see it.
Don't be frightened of the visual overdose, I noticed some ladies are a bit wary of wearing massively decorated shoes. Black and white is the easiest to match and you might feel differently after putting those heels on. You won't know until you've tried, right?

I-S Magazine: Bespoken
The chinese button ring was featured in the August issue of I-S mag along with a Q&A. Ify ou can't read the scan, The article (without images) is also available online.
"These days, the term “limited edition” just doesn’t cut it anymore. For those with a bit of extra moolah to splash, the real deal is to go “bespoke”—which refers to one-off apparel, accessories, lifestyle products and services, art pieces, even food and drinks that are customized down to the very last detail with YOU in mind. I-S rounds up some hip, indie boutique places and ideas where you can buy exclusivity with a capital E."
Bespoke. For some reason, that word sounds kinda romantic. I'm not complaining, though.
Thanks for the feature, Shin~!

Toodle-Oo!
Friday, 1 August 2008
A personal favor for my ex art director; the most patient woman on earth and Katong Hot Mama(long story, trust me)! It's been an honor working with you and the learning experience has been priceless.
The hardest part about leaving an agency is saying goodbye to those I call my friends. Without you, my dear Katong Angels, life there would have been unbearable. The lunchtime jokes, sing-a-long sessions in the studio and bitching sessions on hairy bandits and oompa loompas will be remembered fondly. The roaches and termites, not so fondly.
I'll see you ladies real soon, for the alumni dinner, yeah. ;)

Abstractions
I've been given free reign of her shoes; the only requirements being black and white and a signature which I've squeezed into a tiny corner!.
Mixed medium on flats, gloss varnished.
Twin Egg Holders
When I said 'will work for cake', I didn't think you'd really get my one with the words 'Thank you for the shoes!' inscribed in chocolate. In return for that delicious Chocolate of a Thousand Leaves, I hope you'll enjoy these little extras!
